Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator

When working with Amber, she will first interview you to understand your unique artistic goals. After, she will map steps through lessons in order to achieve those goals. She knows that everyone has a different approach to making art and learning, so she works directly with the needs of each client. While most clients crave technical proficiency, she can also build conceptual and historical foundations for those who ask for it.

The list of courses she has taught at a university level is endless; she has taught all levels of painting and drawing, figure drawing, watercolor painting, professional practices, and all levels of sculpture. She has taught at various institutions, from Florida Atlantic University (Boca Raton, FL) to Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts (West Palm Beach, FL) to Armory Art Center (West Palm Beach, FL) to Utah Valley University (Orem, UT). She attended Massachusetts College of Art and Design for Painting (2006-08) and received her MFA in Visual Art from Florida Atlantic University (2017).

Private lessons are taught out of her home in Jacksonville, FL, near the San Marco / Lakewood region.

    How Lessons Work

    • First, contact Amber with a brief explanation of what you hope to achieve out of private lessons. Amber will call you back to learn more, and from there, create a personalized plan, broken down by day, outlining how you can achieve those goals.
    • Learning a skill does not happen in one lesson; instead, Amber recommends at least one lesson a week for a minimum of 8 weeks for true learning. Many clients consistently study for years.
    • Lesson packages are recommended, and become cheaper per class.
    • Lessons range from 1.5 hours to 3 hours long, depending on the type of study.
    • Materials can be provided for an additional fee, or you can bring your own. If you are unsure of what you need, she can provide a supply list.
    • Lessons take place at her home studio in Lakewood / San Marco region.
    • Only private lessons are available. Eventually she hopes to open a proper studio with group classes, but for now, she is grateful to have the space inside her own hometo teach and make her own work.
    • Students must be at least 14 years of age (with very few exceptions).
